Reference Arabian STALLIONS - a work in progress

I really admire a well bred, good tempered arabian horse. There are many bloodlines, strains and families that comprise the Arabian breed. I am not one to stick to a certain line and don’t believe in the commonly held misconceptions that “Polish horses are this...or Egyptian horses are that”. I see many different families and lines doing well in all disciplines. A good horses is a good horse...regardless. I do see certain traits that are stronger in certain bloodlines and I do have my favorite traits  that I like to see in a horse.  I look for a well balanced horse with no extremes. Good feet and legs are a must. Proven athletic lines are a must. Endurance is my top discipline for proving athleticism. Miles and miles stress a horse in all ways and only the best continue on. The following are some of my favorite stallions.

Some of my favorite arabian horse Bloodlines

Top Left, going clockwise:

Royalty LOA, Sierra Fadwah,

Aulrab and Major Mac V

AURAB

Born in 1957, Aurab sired 129 purebred foals. Many went on to become famous in their own right and leave a legacy in the CMK world. He sired a pretty consistent phenotype which I really like. You can read more about him HERE.

AULRAB

Born in 1979, Aulrab sired 100 horses.  He was known for his spectacular trot  and was shown extensively in English, Driving and Park and went on to win many Championships. I tried to breed my mare to him in 1998 but he got sick and died.  I have always liked what Aulrab produced; big bodied horses with strong loins. His sabino markings were icing on the cake.

I took this photo of Aulrab, shortly before he died when he was standing at stud at Cal Poly Pomona. I had brought a mare there for him to breed. He never did get to breed any mares there, as he got ill shortly after he arrived.

MAGIC AULRAB

My favorite Aulrab son. Magic was born in 1993 and was bred by Sandy Warren of Warren Park Stud. He was bred to be a breeding stallion as he is line bred to Aurab on both sides. He also has Lewisfield Magic +/ on his dam line. Magic is special to me as he is also a proven endurance horse with 1420 competitive miles.

NOBLES TOP GUN

Top Gun is a seasoned reining horse and I really like his balance, conformation and looks.  His  bloodlines lines include  Russian from Muscat and CMK lines with Serafix.

I did see this magnificent stallion in Scottsdale and he is everything I am looking for, plus his owners are really super nice people. In person I saw a gold metallic sheen to his coat. Top Gun is big boned, has a quiet temperament and good, large hoofs.  Top Gun also has a full brother that is a couple years younger and a chestnut.  His name is Noble’s Iceman and he is also a very nice horse. I see consistency in his genetics and the only big difference between Iceman and Top Gun , is Top Gun is a little larger boned.

Top Gun won the U.S. Arabian Nationals in Open Reining in 2013. Quite an accomplishment and still going strong in competition all these years.

*UPDATE: Nobles Iceman has unfortunately passed away in an accident.

SS HYPNOTIC

An 1989 classic pure polish stallion from the Sebankaya Select breeding farm.  He is a son of Spark, a freakishly high trotting horse, naturally.  These polish horses drip with athleticism. Strong hind ends and compact  muscular builds.  I also love the Gdansk line in his back ground. SS Hypnotic was bred to Royal Sassha HP and resulted in a spectacular colt. SS Hypnotic stands at stud  in Oregon.

Sierra Fadwah+/

My all time favorite endurance stallion. Not only did he excel in endurance but he produced horses that excelled in endurance. He was tough, tough, tough. He is the most successful endurance stallion ever!!

Fadwah’s dam was a full sister to the famous Bezatal endurance stallion.  Great metabolic’s and fast recoveries come down from his great great granddam, Follyat, whom we see in many race pedigrees. Fadwah only had 109 foals and most of these did not breed on. Too many of his daughters were raced ‘til late in age. There are only a few sons and daughters of his still competing as they are all getting older.  This is a classic, valuable line that needs to be kept alive in endurance.

KB Omega Fahim++++//

A beautiful, under-utilized stallion that really has “It All”. His breeder/owner mostly uses him in her Shagya breeding program and unfortunately his breeding to purebreds is limited. He has a wonderful website that stays current and up to date on his foals and accomplishments.  I saw him in person a few years back and I was very impressed. He has great legs, big hoofs and a relaxed temperament that is easy to train. Not only has he accomplished much in dressage but he also did a 5 day multi-day endurance ride. That right there says a lot! I hope to use him soon and my girlfriend used him for a 2014 foal on her half arabian endurance mare.

Royalty LOA, Shayga approved Arabian stallion.

TA MOZART

You never know what you’ll find at Scottsdale! It was by chance that I happened upon this 2007 pure polish arabian reining stallion. He won 2011 and 2012 Scottsdale open Reining Futurity Championship. He is a Top Money Winner in Purebred Arabian Reining. He is a good looking, calm tempered stallion with a dramatic story about a near career/life ending injury. He also has a famous sire who also has an interesting story found on his website. Mozart was sold in 2013 and his new owner has funded a $1,000,000. reining futurity for all his get. If that is not incentive enough to get one of his foals, I don’t know what is!
